Portland, Oregon. She began classical ballet at a young age and pursued it for many years performing many full length ballets with Metro Dancers and was pleased to be their “Honor Representative” at Regional Dance America/Pacific’s 2002 Festival. In high school Rachel’s horizons broadened and she began performing with the Jefferson Dancers, under the direction of Steve Gonzales. During her time with the company, she was asked to tour throughout the Pacific Northwest and overseas to France. In the following years she participated in such summer programs as the Northwest Professional Dance Project, Anouk van Dijk’s One Body, One Mind in Amsterdam, the American Dance Festival, the Ailey Summer Program and most recently Strictly Seattle, where she performed a new work by Tiffany Mills. In May 2007 she finished her BFA in Modern Dance Performance, with an Emphasis in Choreography from the University of the Arts. Her training has led her to work with such amazing professionals as Sarah Slipper, Alonzo King, Curt Haworth, Jennifer Nugent, Tandy Beal and Manfred Fischbeck. In April 2007 she co-founded Pink Hair Affair, which has since been A-Listed by Philadelphia Weekly and won City Papers “Best Philly Fringe Dance Find.” She currently dances for both PHA and Group Motion Multimedia Dance Theater. Rachel will soon be exploring the dance scene in Portland, Oregon and San Francisco, California
