Christine Steigerwald was born and raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina where she studied ballet, horseback riding, swimming, and rock climbing. She began high school at North Carolina School of the Arts, studying under Melissa Hayden where she was a featured dancer in a reconstruction of George Balanchine's Stars and Stripes. Spending her summers at Boston Ballet's Summer Dance Program, she moved to Philadelphia where she graduated from The Rock School for Dance Education. She attended college at University of the Arts where she shifted focus from ballet to jazz and finally to modern dance performance where she met the other members of Pink Hair Affair. She studied with and performed pieces by Curt Haworth, Zane Booker, Christine Cox, Ginger Cox, Jennifer Johnson, Brian Sanders, Scott Jovovich, and Virginie Mercene. In 2006, she attended American Dance Festival where she studied with Keith Thompson, Paul Matteson, Kirin Keithley, and Ishmael Houston-Jones. Since college, Christine has performed Rachel Slater's Alice in Group Motion's Spiel Uhr and Winter Dances and in every Pink Hair Affair production in Philadelphia. Choreographic works include Held, Listing Lazily to the Left, Paper Current, excerpt in The 3 Excurses, and The Teleporter.
