Laura Jenkins grew up in Poughkeepsie, NY where she was homeschooled second through eleventh grade. For her "gym class" she took ballet and became a very serious student. Deciding on dance as a career she moved to Philadelphia where she received her BFA in Modern Dance Performance from the University of The Arts in 2007. During her stay at UArts she had the opportunity to be in works by Milton Meyers, Christine Cox, Curt Haworth, Brian Sanders, and MOMIX to name a few. After graduation, Laura went on to start Pink Hair Affair with seven of her peers. Her works have been seen in Philly Fringe 07-10, music videos, RedBull Art of Can, various fundraiser events and other shows. Laura has had the chance to perform in Mexico, Dominican Republic, Aruba, and Kuwait and Iraq on a Goodwill tour. Most recently she was the Artistic Director of PHA's first burlesque-inspired show "Take It Off" in March 2010. Aside from dancing with Pink Hair Affair, Laura just finished up her 4th season as a Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleader in which she was Captain. She also studied trapeze, corde lisse, and fabric at the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts. Currently, she works as a Massage Therapist (CMT, NCBTMB) at a Fitness and Rehab facility. Laura is proud to be the director of Pink Hair Affair and can't wait to create and perform new works for Philadelphia and the rest of the world.
